Collating

Collating or sorting is the process of assembling the components of a digital print application into the correct order. There are many digital printing devices that have the capability of collating pages automatically. This feature may be available as an option or it may be a standard feature with some models.

Another option for collating is with the use of off-line equipment. Manual collating can be used for gathering signatures for very small quantity print projects.

Encapsulation

Generally run with hot thermal laminating film. However, our laminating machines offer without any option the capacity to encapsulate jobs with pressure sensitive (or cold) films.

The print is protected on both sides with thermal film applied simultaneously. The thickness varies from 42 micron to 250 micron per side depending on the rigidity required on the finished product. By over lapping a couple of millimetres from the edge of the graphic the image will be protected against water.

Spiral binding

Also known as plastic coil, blends a snappy contemporary look with fabulous functionality. Binding elements are available in 16 standard colors and can even be PMS matched for large enough runs. These elements are “spun” through punched holes in book blocks and crimped in place, creating a sturdy binding style. The end result? Your books lie perfectly flat. Ask a chef if she would rather use a book that lies flat or needs to have a spine creased to keep pages from flipping during use? Better yet, plastic spiral bound books can be opened 360 degrees for single-hand use.

Wiro Binding

8 Days a Week offer a full range of binding services, from standard wiro binding to Half & Full Canadian Binding.
8 Days have the capacity to bind documents from 1mm up to 35mm thickness – no job is too big or too small.

Comb Binding

Comb binding uses a curved plastic strip inserted through slots punched along the binding edge of the document.

Single Sided Lamination

Usually using pressure sensitive (or cold) film, this method enables to protect the print on one side using different finishes and textures depending on the type of film applied, i.e. mat, satin, gloss and sandgrain for both indoor and outdoor use.

Adhesive Mounting

Applies a double-sided adhesive film on the print or on its back in order to prepare it for gluing or mounting on to any substrate.
